Relationships among the Self-Efficacy, Social Support and the Countertransference Management Ability of the Playtherapist

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships among the self-efficacy, social support and the countertransference management ability of the play therapists. The subject of this study were 100 play therapists. All subjects were testing with Counseling self-Estimate Inventory, Social-Support Inventory and Countertransference Factors Inventory. The collected data were analyzed by the statistical program SAS and for each research question, stepwise multiple regression analysis was used. The result of this study was as follow. First, as a result of relationships among the self-efficacy and the countertransference management ability, a play therapist who has higher self-efficacy in counseling process, dealing with client behavior showed the higher countertransference management ability. Second, as a result of relationships among the social support and the countertransference management ability, a play therapist who has higher support of supervisor showed the higher empathy ability, conceptualizing skills and the countertransference management ability. Third, as a result of relationships among the self-efficacy, the social support and the countertransference management ability, a play therapist who has higher self efficacy in counseling process, dealing with client behavior showed the higher the countertransference management ability
